Scientific Advisory Board

In addition to Dr. Soff, Angiogen’s esteemed Scientific Advisory team includes experts in the area of cancer research and other clinical research and is highly regarded throughout the oncology/hematology field. Their backgrounds and specific areas of expertise follow:

Jack L. Arbiser, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Emory University School of Medicine. His medical education and post-graduate training were at Harvard University. His research training was at Harvard University in the laboratory of Dr. Judah Folkman, a pioneer in the angiogenesis field. Dr. Arbiser has become one of the most respected investigators in this field and has received numerous awards and grants for his work in angiogenesis, particularly in regards to skin and other cancers. Dr. Arbiser will provide important expertise in the development of the Angiostatic Cocktail.

Dr. Michael Davidson is the Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Preventative Cardiology at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Davidson was the founder and CEO of the Chicago Center for Clinical Research (acquired by Protocare, now owned by Radiant Research), where he remains the Executive Medical Director of one of the United States’ largest comprehensive contract research companies. Radiant Research employs 1,000 research professionals at over 50 company owned clinical research centers. Additionally, Dr. Davidson holds one US Patent for atherosclerosis therapy. Dr. Davidson graduated with a dual BA/MS degree in Biology from Northwestern University and attended medical school at the Ohio State University, where he had Clerkship Honors in Medicine, Surgery, OB/GYN and Pediatrics.

Timothy Kuzel, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology at Northwestern University. He received his medical education at the University of Michigan and clinical training at Northwestern University. He is Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Chicago VA Healthcare System – Lakeside Division and serves as the Director of the Clinical Research Office and Director of the Ambulatory Care Center of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University Medical School. He is an accomplished clinical investigator and has participated in numerous clinical trials involving novel cancer therapies and has published numerous paper in respected medical journals. Dr. Kuzel’s expertise in clinical trials and clinical research provide a key component in the development of the Angiostatic Cocktail. Dr. Kuzel is also one of the founders of Angiogen.

Michael J. Thirman, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology at the University of Chicago. He was educated at the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago. He has received numerous awards and grants for his pioneering work in cancer biology and cancer therapy. In addition to his scientific expertise, Dr. Thirman brings a unique and valuable perspective to Angiogen as his research expertise is not in the field of angiogenesis.
