Management Team of Angiogen, LLC

Gerald A. Soff, M.D.

Founder, Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School and a member of the Robert Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern. He is a widely respected physician and scientist in the field of angiogenesis and angiogenesis inhibition.

Dr. Soff is an author of several significant publications about angiogenesis, angiogenesis inhibition, Angiostatin4.5 and other medical research. Dr. Soff graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School and performed his Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at Harvard University.

Additionally, Dr Soff spent five years as a research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a former Fulbright Fellow. Dr. Soff previously founded Angiogenesis Research Industries, a successful and profitable biotechnology company that produces and sells angiostatin to the biomedical research community.

Mark G. Arizmendi

President of Angiogen. Most recently, he served as the Managing Partner of Northwestern Capital Partners, a middle-market investment bank, where he advised numerous privately held middle market and start-up companies on financing issues, valuation and enterprise value analysis, mergers and acquisitions and long-term strategic planning. Mr. Arizmendi has structured joint ventures with several of the largest privately held companies in the United States.

Before starting his own company, he worked with the David H. Murdock Company, a privately held, multi-billion dollar real estate investment and corporate buyout firm. Mr. Arizmendi attended the University of Southern California as a National Merit Scholar and graduated with an MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University, where he was a Queen’s University Entrepreneurial Circle finalist. He serves on the boards of directors of numerous non-profits, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Charlotte, N.C., USC Board of Ambassadors (Presidential Advisory Board), Junior Achievement of the Carolinas and McColl School Alumni Board.

Dorene A. Lynch

Chief Financial Officer of Angiogen. Ms. Lynch has 20 years of experience in life sciences and has worked successfully with a number of start-up companies in a variety of capacities. Ms. Lynch was formerly Executive Vice President, Finance and Corporate Business Development and CFO of MIICRO, Inc., a Chicago based neuroimaging technology firm where she was instrumental in raising strategic capital from Pfizer, Inc. and P.E.T.Net Pharmaceuticals, as well as $5 million in private equity financing.

Ms. Lynch has held executive roles with several other life science firms, including Celsis, Inc. (Vice-President and General Manager, North and Latin America), Nobel Biocare (Vice-President of Marketing) and spent 10 years at Baxter Healthcare Corporation. She graduated from Northern Illinois University magna cum laude and with University Honors with a degree in Finance and received an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University. Ms. Lynch spent 12 years serving on the Board of Directors of The Harbour, Inc., which is a not-for-profit agency serving adolescent girls in the Chicagoland area.
