Angiostatic Cocktail

Angiogen’s scientific team has world-recognized expertise and experience in angiogenesis inhibition, especially as it relates to the disease of cancer. Angiogen was the first to recognize the potential of combining two classes of FDA approved drugs (a plasminogen activator, which is typically used for myocardial infarction, and a free sulfhydryl donor) into one anti-angiogenesis cancer-fighting treatment. The Company’s first product is the Angiostatic Cocktail and it is presently being tested in a Phase I Clinical Trial.

The results of the trial have been very promising, with incontrovertible evidence the Angiostatic Cocktail is generating the angiogenesis inhibiting protein Angiostatin4.5. Two of five patients in initial clinical testing experienced a decline in serum tumor markers; patients in the current Phase I trial have experienced some tumor necrosis and Western Blot diagrams indicate that Angiostatin4.5 is exhibiting a longer half-life than expected. As the trial continues at greater doses of the plasminogen activator, we expect proportionately better results in the patients.

Angiogen expects that a second, more immediate and non-therapeutic revenue source will come from the marketing and sales of assays used to quantify blood Angiostatin4.5 levels generated in patients receiving the Angiostatic Cocktail or other therapies designed to change the level of Angiostatin4.5 in the blood. These quantitative assays will be an important part of the safe and effective use of the Angiostatic Cocktail, as treating physicians must monitor patient response to therapy and make dose adjustments according to blood Angiostatin4.5 levels.

The Company is continuing to explore other drug candidates related to its work in the Angiogenesis field, including macular degeneration, wound healing and heart disease.
